  2007-02-06 : Costs and benefits

We often ear our clients say "I wouldn`t go back to my old manual method" or "I wouldn`t live without my system", and we quite like to ear that from our customers. But have you taken a few minutes to think about all you are still doing with the "old manual method"? How much would you be ready to invest to have an automated system for those tasks which you could no longer live without? To answer that question, you only need to do a simple exercise: the cost/benefits analysis.

How much time an automated system would make you save in a week, in a month or in a year? Add all that time and multiply by the cost of all those hours for your company. That exercise gives you an idea of direct benefits.

Then, think about what more you could do with that system. If information were more easily available, if reports gave you a better follow-up, if the whole task were less errors prone, would there be an improvement in the services you provide to your clients and to you company`s image? What would be the value of that improvement?

All that gives you a pretty good idea of the budget you could invest on a system. You still would have to consider the costs. More than the system itself, you will have to think about equipments, connectivity (local network, Internet) and about training.

That little exercise is not very long to do and could bring a lot of surprises. Optitech can help you ascertain costs and benefits from computerization of a business process. Take some time, the benefits are there to grab. And we will surely appreciate to ear you say how much you like you new system.
